The school day began with a moment of silence.
History classes interrupted their regular units and lessons to talk about this day in the past.
On the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, AFJROTC conducted a flag ceremony in remembrance and honor of those lost in the attack.
Beginning at 8:10 a.m., hundreds of students watched as the cadets paid tribute to those who served in the NYPD, NYFD, and all others who lost their lives that day.
Senior cadet major Hunter Carsten described what it meant to him to partake in the event.
“We got to honor the colors, we got to honor our flag and we got to honor those who passed away in the tragedy of 9/11,” Carsten said.
