Change to online school affects students

The switch from in-school classes to online was a drastic change, but it also gave students more freedom.

“It’s quick, simple and gives me more time to have a job and pursue my interests,” sophomore Alex Key said.

However, online school can also feel like a burden and negatively impact a student’s grades.

“It affects my grades more negatively because I struggle to motivate myself to do the work or even find time to,” sophomore Bella Karel said.

Sophomore Logan Oldridge does not like online school, either.

“I prefer in-school learning because it keeps me more focused,” he said.

And then there’s the whole social aspect that is missing with distance learning.

“I get to interact with not only my teachers, but also my friends and other fellow classmates,” sophomore Journey Swartz said of having in-school classes.

Most students struggle to even attend their zoom meetings.

“I do not go to my zoom meetings regularly because I don’t feel the need to, because I know how to do all my assignments. I feel like zoom is not all that necessary,” sophomore Fernanda Martinez said.

Sophomore Chloe Johnson attends her zoom meetings regularly.

“I go to make sure that I know everything that’s going on in the class and so I don’t miss an assignment,” Johnson said.
