STEM challenge national champs
April 19, 2021
Seven students brought a national championship to Derby on Friday.
In a virtual STEM Innovation Challenge, junior Camdan Cooper and seniors Magnus Moeder, Bryce Schrieber, Bryleigh Cross, Samuel Griffit, Aneesa Abdul-Hameed and Kley Davis represented the West coast as regional winners and went head-to-head with the East Coast team, battling it out for the national championship.
“It was definitely stressful but we were confident in our idea,” Griffit said. “We were confident we could win, but even if we didn’t, it was cool because we were the West Coast winners and it was a good experience.”\
In this “Sharktank”-style competition, students had an opportunity to learn about careers in the energy field.
