The Panthers baseball team is headed to the Class 6A tournament.

Junior Saben Seager threw a no-hitter, striking out 11 as the Panthers beat Wichita East 13-0 in the regional championship game on Wednesday. They won in five innings.

They advance to the state tournament on May 28-29 at Fort Scott.

“We have really solid pitching,” junior Mercer Thatcher said. “Offense looks good. I’m just contributing to the team. I am a relief pitcher and batting solid right now, and so is everyone else.”

Derby scored nine runs in the first two innings. Kade Snodgrass and Coleson Syring each were 3-for-3 hitting. Syring had 3 RBIs.

The Panthers beat Campus 8-4 in the regional semifinal at Andover. The game was moved from Derby’s home field due to the rain.
