Panthers football cruises to playoff victory

Derby is keeping it rolling with a 63-9 win over Wichita Southeast on Friday night in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
The Panthers will play host to Wichita East on Nov. 5.
Junior running back Dylan Edwards scored on the game’s first play.
After Southeast fumbled, Mercer Thatcher hit Drake Thatcher for a 22-yard TD pass for the 14-0 lead.
But less than two minutes into the game, Southeast responded with an 83-yard scoring run to get within 14-6.
Derby was unfazed.
Derek Hubbard went 89 yards on the kickoff return for the touchdown, Edwards scored on a 38-yard run and Brian Murph had a pick-six for 27 yards.
By the end of the first quarter, it was 49-6.
The second half was a little slower on the scoring party, but Derby still scored one more touchdown.
