The Panthers won the Class 6A regional championship again, beating Wichita East 63-26.

Junior running back Dylan Edwards scored seven touchdowns on runs of 5, ,61, 1, 46, 10 and 12 yards. His seventh touchdown was a 66-yard punt return.

Six of Edwards’ touchdowns came in the first half as the Panthers led 42-12.

Senior Drake Thatcher caught a 3-yard TD pass from Mercer Thatcher, and junior Brock Zerger scored on a 10-yard run.

After the Panthers went up 14-0, East scored to get within 14-6 and then 21-12. 

But Derby scored 42 unanswered points.

The Panthers advance to the quarterfinals against visiting Lawrence Free State on Nov. 12.
