Remembering Bob Dole, a public servant and champion for veterans

Bob Dole broke barriers, overcoming near-fatal wounds from World War II to emerge as a U.S. senator, presidential candidate and advocate for veterans and the disabled. 

He died on the morning of Dec. 5 at the age of 98.

Across the nation, flags are flying at half staff as people mourn his death and remember his legacy.

  • History teacher Emily Williams’ dad and other veterans met Bob Dole in 2014 at the Kansas Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C.
