Junior running back Dylan Edwards was awarded the 2021-2022 Gatorade Kansas Football Player of the Year on Tuesday.

Edwards had an outstanding  season with 2,603 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns.

“I know my teammates contributed a lot to this award, so it wasn’t just a win for me it was a win for all of us,” Edwards said.

This is the second year in a row that a Derby player won this award. Quarterback Lem Wash won it his senior year in 2020.

“It’s a great feeling knowing that Lem won it the year before me,” Edwards said.
