Boys swim in prime position for state
January 20, 2022
With the Class 6A state swim meet less than a month away, three Panthers have qualified individually, all three relays qualified and two swimmers have multiple consideration times.
Senior Will McCabe qualified in every individual event (can only swim two) and has set five school records so far.
He has set records in the 200 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 500 freestyle this year. He is close on the 100 free, and the 400 free relay is closing in on the record set a few years ago.
“My favorite I’d have to say is the 400 freestyle relay because it’s the last final event and there is a lot of cheering and it’s a really fun relay overall,” McCabe said.
Freshman Jared Hays qualified in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.48 and the 500 free with a time of 5:13.13.
Freshman Aidan Kienzle qualified in diving with a score of 316.40.
Senior Brenden Swindle and senior Jack Tayrien have multiple consideration times that should get them into the state meet as well.
