The girls basketball team heads into its midseason tournament on Thursday.

They play up at Lawrence Free State in the 2022 Lady Firebirds Winter Classic and they have their first game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. They’ll also play on Friday and Saturday.

The Panthers have the possibility to play the No. 1 team in Class 6A, Shawnee Mission East, which is 7-0.

,“I’m not worried about playing and competing with a team at that level and I think we are prepared, we just have to make sure we execute and play to our standards to win,” senior forward Jada Hopson said. 

The Panthers are 9-0 and ranked third in 6A

The goal is the championship game.

“That’s what we’re aiming for,” sophomore guard Destiny Smith said. “When we play together, we all know how we play and what we do and that’s helps us a lot and I feel like it will help us, not only that but doing the little things help us win.”
