Girls Swim Begins

The girls swim team has started off the season strong.

“Returners are helping lead the team and the new swimmers and divers are quickly becoming an important part of the program,” coach Jimmy Adams said. “As we get more meets and experience the swimmers and divers will sort themselves out into their strongest events and the team will start to take shape for our final push towards the league and state meets.”

Dive is also doing well with returning State Qualifiers, sophomore Ana Self, junior Alexis Stanton, and senior Lexi Silva. As well as up-and-coming first year divers, sophomores Kenidi Lowmaster and Jojo Vales.

“I think (Kenidi and Jojo) have a high chance of qualifying for State,” diving coach Samuel Pinkerton said.

Self’s goals are to beat the school record and to make it on the podium at state with a top three finish.

“We have a saying that’s ‘one dive at a time’ so I just focused on one dive at a time and if I messed up a dive I would just forget about it and move onto my next dive. I just was like I’m here to have fun and try my hardest, so I was trying to stay positive,” Self said.
