Williams: Rating Coachella Weekend One Looks

Kaidence Williams, Production Editor

This weekend kicked off the return of Coachella – an annual music and arts festival held in Indio, California, in the Coachella valleyl – for the first time in two years. One of the defining features of the festival is the fashion, and everyone, celebrities and non celebrities alike pull out the stops for it. I’ll be rating some of the looks from weekend one, on a scale from one: horrible to ten: showstopping.

Harry Styles

Styles was dressed in his go to designer, Gucci. He wore a matching sleeveless shirt and pants set designed with mirrorlike multicolored details, with a deep neckline that exposed his chest. I was expecting something a little more for Coachella, but nonetheless, it was not the worst outfit there. I don’t hate it, but do I think it was revolutionary? No. Do I think it was on brand for him? Yes. Do I think the thirsty harries got what they wanted? Also yes.

Verdict: 6/10, with an A for effort.

Sydney Sweeney

Sweeney wore a Charo Ruiz Ibaza dress with puffed sleeves and eyelet detailing on the fabric, as well as black Ranch Road cowboy boots. I loved this look until I looked at her feet and saw the cowboy boots. I do not hate cowboy boots, but I do hate them when they are worn at Coachella. Otherwise, she looked lovely, but I don’t think it screams Coachella. Other than the cowboy boots, of course.

Verdict: 7/10, minus three for the cowboy boots.

Megan Thee Stallion

Meg opted for a silver high cut bodysuit custom designed by Dolce and Gabbana and embellished with Swarovski crystals. I love the halter neckline, as well as the embellishing around the bodysuit. I’m not a fan of the color, as the silver looked sort of cheap under the stagelights and in photograph, but in general I loved it. Love Meg, love the outfit, don’t love that it’s Dolce and Gabbana.

Verdict: 8/10, minus two for D&G.

Nicole Sherzinger

Sherzinger wore a Jacquemes matching skirt and shit set, with navy blue platforms and a bright blue handbag. I have nothing to criticize about this outfit. I love the blue and green as well as the marble pattern of her outfit. Also, I’m really loving the spacey vibes this outfit gives with her space buns and large blue earrings.

Verdict: 10/10, and the aliens agree.

Kim Kardashian

Kardashian donned a taupe skirt with a high slit and matching one sleeve cropped shirt, and paired it with matching gladiator sandals, a silver clutch, and sunglasses. I don’t hate it. It’s very Kim Kardashian, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her wearing this exact outfit on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. It’s not creative, and it’s not giving Coachella.

Verdict: 5/10, minus five for matching with her house.
