As the 2022-2023 school year is approaching, Derby Student Council starts up elections for the executive office.

This year took a different turn as all students ran unopposed. 

Newly elected student council president is junior Thu Le, who previously was executive treasurer. 

“I really enjoy all of the activities and work I’ve been able to do for STUCO this year, so I thought it’d be great if I ran again to round out my journey with this organization,” Le said. “I was the only one who ran, but I definitely made my intentions to run for this position well beforehand”.

The new vice president junior Lynn Tran – previously executive secretary – was just voted in.

“I loved working on the executive board, so I decided to bump up to the next position and work with our new team next year,” Tran said. “It would be really fun to have some competition, but I’m also relieved I got the position”.

Sophomore Abby Kuhn ran for executive treasurer.

“I wanted to be more active in the decision-making and have more input with the work we do in STUCO,” Kuhn explained. “It was a lot of putting myself out there and talking to people that I normally wouldn’t. I think it was definitely beneficial to get out of my shell a bit”.
