The football team pulled out a tough win, winning 45-38 at Bishop Carroll.

It was a back and forth game, all game.

The Panthers started the scoring spree first with a touchdown by senior running back Dylan Edwards on a 25-yard run.

Edwards finished with five touchdowns.

Carroll responded later in the first quarter with a 23-yard field goal and ended the first quarter trailing 7-3.

During the second quarter, Carroll took the 10-7 lead on a 35-yard run before Derby answered with senior quarterback Brock Zerger finding junior wide receiver Colton Ruedy for the 14-10 lead.

Carroll hit back with a quick touchdown before the half and the 17-14 lead.

Carroll opened the second half with an electric catch, and the Eagles scored on the next play for the 24-14 lead.

Edwards then punched back with an electric play of his own – a 91-yard kickoff return to get within 24-21.

Senior linebacker Miles Wash followed with an interception, setting up Edwards for a 30-yard touchdown run and the 28-24 lead.

Grady Jesseph hit a 20-yard field goal to again extend the lead to 31-24.

But this game was far from over.

Carroll tied the score at 31-all, only to watch Edwards retake the lead with his fourth touchdown and the 38-31 lead.

With the score tied at 38-all, Edwards sealed the game with an 85-yard run.

The Panthers held the Eagles off for the last 44 seconds of game and are 2-1 after falling in overtime to Manhattan in the season opener.
