Stuco cleans student section at football games

At the end of home football games when the stands begin to empty out, the student section continuously reveals to be littered with empty and spilled soda and water bottles, half-eaten pretzels, candy bags and nacho cheese… and that’s on a good day.

Tired of the disastrous state of the stands, Student Council decided to get together for five minutes after every home game to pick up the trash.

“I figured it wasn’t that bad of a time commitment and it didn’t hurt to help out while the band performed post-game,” senior Andy Nguyen said.

Although they can’t clean the spilled and sticky soda and nacho cheese, stuco cleans whatever they are able to.

“I thought, one, it’s gonna take two seconds, and two, I clean up anyways, so why not?” senior Alice Valles said. “You definitely can’t say it’s fun, but it’s quick and it’s easy and if teenagers can’t seem to pick up after themselves then I guess we can do it.”

The group is there at every game, rain or shine.

“It’s pretty bad when it gets cold, but after staying outside the whole game it doesn’t really make that much of a difference,” Nguyen said.
