The Panthers got back on the winning track with a 55-7 victory at Maize South on Friday.

Derby, which lost to Maize 52-51 on Oct. 7, is now 5-2.

While the Panthers’ lead at the end of the first quarter was 14-7 after a touchdown run by senior running back Dylan Edwards and a 62-yard run by senior quarterback Brock Zerger, the Panthers scored 27 second-quarter points for the 41-7 lead at the break.

Early in the second quarter, Edwards ran in for his second touchdown of the game, then three minutes later, he scored on a pass from Zerger.

Derby’s defense did its part, too, with a 30-yard interception return by junior Demarie Baker, which extended the lead to 34-7.

To finish out the half Zerger threw a TD pass to junior Colton Ruedy to push the lead to 41-7.

The Panthers kept scoring in the second half.

Edwards scored on a 32-yard touchdown run and was followed up by a 64-yard run by junior running back Derek Hubbard to take the 55-7 lead.
