Page 2: Staying Safe on Halloween

Halloween is a perfect time for partying, dressing up and hanging with friends.

But it can also be a time when some prey on innocent people. Maybe the attack is a date-rape drug or being cornered in a room by someone three times your size.

“While approximately 175 million Americans celebrate Halloween night, crime rates can increase by up to 50%.” said Minnesota defense lawyers at Brandt Kettwick

Here are a few tips to stay safe:

*Never leave a drink unattended. While you may think you’re fine, someone else will be waiting to strike.

*Always have a designated driver by your side. Designated drivers are supposed to be sober, so they’re more likely to be vigilant.

*Never walk outside alone. While you may only be walking to the driveway, being alone is never a safe bet. Someone could be behind your car or a nearby one.

*Always check your back seat.

*Always lock your car.

Make sure you’re prepared to defend yourself, whether it’s a keyring, self-defense moves or pepper spray.

Kitty keyrings are popular among young people, not only because of its cute resemblance to a cat, but because it can be used to defend themselves.

The ears of the keyring are sharp and will do a pretty significant amount of damage to a person.
