Panthers football moves on to Class 6A semifinals but loses quarterback

The Panthers are headed to the Class 6A semifinals.

With a 36-21 win over Washburn Rural on Friday, the Panthers will advance to play a Manhattan on Nov. 18.

Derby took a 20-14 lead into halftime, getting two rushing touchdowns from Dylan Edwards and one from quarterback Brock Zerger. Edwards finished with 174 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Zerger had 107 passing yards and 107 rushing yards.

During the third quarter, Zerger scored his second touchdown. But on a running play, he was injured that knocked him out of the game. 

Junior quarterback Braxton Clark, who subbed in for Zerger, threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Keener for the 36-14 lead. 

Clark finished with 102 rushing yards, while Keener had 115 receiving yards.
