Thanksgiving is the final event of the fall season as we start to roll into Winter.

Sophomore Dakota Trowbridge is frustrated Derby public schools didn’t have the whole week off for Thanksgiving break. She can’t go on vacation with her family.

“It’s not very smart that we have two days,” she said. “Why don’t they just give us the whole week off? It just messes up vacations.

“My parents wanted to go on vacation since I have school off, but now that we have these two days we can’t, so now I have to work. Other people that I know don’t have school, and I can’t hang out with them.”

With people starting their break early, sickness and even senior skip day, there were 790 students gone today.
