Breana Stolt is a member of a multiracial family.

Her mother is Filipino and her stepdad is white.

Stolt’s family celebrates some of the more average winter American traditions, but with a little spice.

Stolt’s mother always makes a Filipino dish called sotanghon, which is basically “the Filipino version of chicken noodle soup,” Stolt said.

It’s made out of shredded chicken, sotanghon noodles, carrots, cabbage, roasted garlic, scallions and seasoned with fish sauce.

“I love how my mom always incorporates Filipino food during the holidays. It makes me feel closer to home, and takes me back to my childhood in the Philippines.” Stolot said

Stolt’s mother also decorates for Christmas super early – if it’s a month that ends in ber, she can decorate.

Another tradition is her family gets matching sweaters or sometimes matching Christmas pajamas.

“It’s really cute,” Stolt said.
