At the start of the basketball season, Kaeson Fisher-Bown was ranked 40th in Kansas by MaxPreps in the preseason rankings. In another preseason ranking for the Wichita area, he was 15th.

“I felt like it was a massive slap in the face,” Fisher-Brown said.

However, his skills improved from his junior season — he finishes better around the rim and he’s more consistent on the perimeter. His ballhandling is stronger because he’s physically tougher and can use his body to get around and through defenders.

The media quickly took notice of Fisher-Brown’s skill. Many new stations put something out afterward Fisher Brown led the panthers to a 5-0 record before playing Maize South and losing in a close game.

This year he is averaging  20.7 points per game through the first 6

Fisher-Brown also took on a greater leadership role. There are only three players with varsity, so he must use his experience to guide the team.

“Everybody’s intentions are right and everybody listens because they want to win,” he said. “Everybody wants to win. And they know that at the end of the day when it comes to basketball IQ when it comes to playing in the biggest games having this type of atmosphere even, that I’m the one that’s been through that before and I’m the one that can tell guys how to handle this stuff.”
