Comfort Objects

Comfort objects have been around for a long time.

These objects include blankets, pillows, stuffed animals or any specific object that comforts someone.

Sophomore Matthew Bonebrake has over 40 stuffed animals.

“My favorites are all dinosaurs and I have 20 of those, but I definitely have over 40 stuffed animals total,” Bonebrake said.

Bonebrake struggles with anxiety, so having a soft stuffed animal helps.

“I have had to leave school numerous times because of panic and anxiety attacks, which isn’t great,” he said. “So these (stuffed animals) help with my anxiety and panic a lot.”

However, stuffed animals may not work for everyone.

“Even if it’s not like a stuffed animal or something that is clearly a comfort object, everyone has some sort of comfort object,” Bonebrake said. “I don’t think they will work for everyone, but it definitely works for me.”
