Unbreakable Bond

By joining wrestling, freshman Chloe Spears was immediately embraced and built strong relationships with her teammates.

“I’ve built relationships with almost every single girl. I’m very happy I joined because of that,” said Spears, who is in her first year of wrestling.

But one relationship stands out – her friendship with junior Trinity Williams.

“Trinity is like an older sister in wrestling,” Spears said. “She’s always helped me out whenever I needed, like needing help learning a new move, and she’s always there for me mentally because wrestling is a very mentally and physically exhausting sport.”

“She’s just a really sweet, very kind, very loyal person. She makes you feel loved. She’s a very awesome friend,” Spears said.

Williams feels the same.

“I met Chloe this year at the start of the wrestling season,” said Williams, who has wrestled for seven years. “Our weights are close so we are practice partners. And just through that, (we) started talking and became friends.”

They even have their own prematch handshake where they high-five each other, hit both of their shoulders together, and then put their heads together.

When Spears is wrestling, she gets nervous, but she knows she’s not alone.

“I always have Trinity and my coaches and my wrestling team in my corner, so I always know I’ll be OK,” Spears said.

The whole team is close, though.

“Although our team is big, we all are very close and hang out most weekends. We all spend so much time together,” Williams said.
