Stress a part of homecoming dress shopping

Prom dress shopping gets the most attention, but what most people don’t know is the struggle behind finding the perfect homecoming dress.

Homecoming is during fall at Derby, and that means you have to take the changing of the weather into consideration. The trends, set in past years of Homecoming, were wearing black dresses or short dresses.

“I have been looking for a two-piece dress and haven’t found one yet, and I’ve been to almost four stores. Dress shopping is a lot more time consuming and stressful than people think,” junior Sydney Le said.

Keep in mind that this dance is a more casual version of prom, and there isn’t a certain dress code. When going shopping for your dress, you don’t need to feel like you have to spend a lot of money.

There are many places where you can find quality dresses for cheaper prices since most people don’t want to spend a ton of money on a dress they will probably only wear once or twice. Windsor, Von Maur, Dillard’s sale rack and JCPenney are just a few places where you can find nice homecoming dresses. Plus they’re all located at the mall.

“If you wait until the last minute to dress shop, everything is super picked over, and it’s harder to find what you want,” junior Amanda Beilin said.
