Working teens add additional layer of stress

Students with jobs in high school tend to suffer from large amounts of stress and anxiety.

Most jobs that are available to students are part-time and most likely in the food industry or, in senior Paije Crossman’s case, the drink industry.

Crossman works at Smoothie King after getting out of her college classes at Butler University. She makes smoothies for people who are trying to take the healthier option in life.

“Some days I just want to go home after school,” Crossman said.

She struggles just like all working teens to get her schoolwork done in the classroom rather than pulling all-nighters to get it turned in the next day.

Although it can be tough sometimes, Crossman finds her job and co-workers fun and exciting. She loves the opportunity to meet new people.

“It’s just a fun atmosphere and everyone is really nice. Oh, and I love smoothies,” Crossman said.
