Teacher producing documentary on soccer team

It is not too common to know someone who produces movies.

Kenneth Linn, Derby’s Animation and Video Production teacher, has been working on a documentary about the Wichita Wings soccer team since May.

“It’s specifically centered around a major indoor soccer league that existed in Wichita, into the 2000s,” Linn said. “But we’re focusing on kind of their greatest decade, which is the 1980s.”

Linn is currently reading a book about the Wings, which is written by Tim O’Bryhim and Michael Romalis. The authors had reached out to Linn himself and another filmmaker to make this documentary.

Linn has released two teaser trailers for the documentary and has interviewed many remaining players from the team.

“It’s hard to say when it will be out,” Linn said. “There’s still a lot of work to do. Rough goal is this time next year.”

A lot of the players that were on the team are European. Many are from Denmark and England, and it can be difficult to find those men to interview.

“One of the big goals for us is to raise funding so that we can travel to Europe to go and interview these people,” Linn said. “We want to do that next summer.”
