On Nov. 29, auditions started for the musical “The Music Man” at Derby High. Students also auditioned on Nov. 30.

“The auditions went well, and the process went smooth and functional,” freshman Katelyn Bringhurst said.

The musical was produced in 1962 by Meredith Wilson. It was a huge hit at the time and is still is.

The auditions contain two parts — the singing audition and script reading. For the singing audition, students had to sing the song “The Wells Fargo Wagon.” For the script reading, students had to read scripts involving the musical.

The supervisors in charge of the musical are choir teacher Tyler Morris and drama teacher Richard Schultz.

The musical will be performed on Feb. 15-17.

“I am so excited to see the musical,” freshman Sarah Nuse.
