Seniors relish shortened second semester schedule

In the second semester of senior year students are allowed to shorten their schedules. Several seniors answer questions about their new free time.

How many classes did you shorten your schedule by?

“For this semester I shortened my schedule by not having an advisory or a last block either day,” senior Shea Gee said.

“I technically only have four classes at the high school, but I am taking two online through Butler,” senior Rileigh Mahoney said.

“I have a half schedule. I have 5 classes,” senior Jenna Terrell said.

Why did you decide to shorten your schedule?

“I decided to take a shortened schedule because I am done with most of my credits, and I wanted more time to focus on school and plan for next year,” Gee said.

“I decided to take a shortened schedule because I’m taking some classes through Butler and didn’t want to be overwhelmed, especially my senior year,” Mahoney said.

“I decided to do it to shorten the work load and give myself more time,” Terrell said.

How has your shortened schedule affected your senior year?

“I have only had a shortened schedule for second semester, but so far it has helped me to stay ahead with school work and not have to stay up late finishing homework,” Gee said.

“I have way more free time now and I feel like it’s giving me a better feel for how my college schedule is going to be,” Mahoney said.

“I have more time to sleep in and more time to work. I can make money to prepare for college,” Terrell said.

Do you enjoy having a shortened schedule?

“Yes, I have enjoyed having a shortened schedule. It has made things a lot less stressful,” Gee said.

“I love having a shortened schedule. I have tons more time during the day to do other things,” Mahoney said.

“I love my schedule,” Terrell said.

What do you do in your new free time from your shortened schedule?

“In my free time I have been able to get homework done faster, help more at home with chores and search for a job,” Gee said.

“I get to sleep in a little longer and I find time to go to the gym. Sometimes I work on schoolwork during the day so I have free time to hang out with my friends at night,” Mahoney said.

“I work, sleep and hang out with my friends. I get a lot more done,” Terrell said.
