The Derby girls (10-1) traveled to Topeka for their midseason tournament — and dominated while extending their winning streak to 10 games.

The Panthers left Eisenhower in the dust at halftime of the first game, up 36-6 before almost doubling their own score with a 69-14 final.

Derby faced the tournament hosts, the Topeka West Chargers (4-6), on Friday in the semifinals. Again, it was a blowout by half — 47-7. Junior Kennedy Brown scored 18 points as Derby won 76-23.

In Saturday’s championship, Derby played the Maize Eagles (8-3). The Eagles didn’t make it such an easy win for the Panthers.

Derby trailed, but not for long. The Panthers still led 21-14 at half.

The Panthers kicked it into gear in the second half, holding a lead the whole time to get the 52-40 win.

Derby plays at Great Bend (3-8) on Tuesday.
