Baking and Pastry is a new class added to Derby High School in 2017.

The class is taught by Lexie Dill and is all about learning the the different baking techniques. In order to take the class you have to have taken Culinary Arts 1.

“I really like it, and I want to own my own bakery, so it’s a really cool class,” junior Peyton Russell said.

Due to a lot of prep work and making dough a day beforehand, the class is on both Green and White days.

Along with baking many different foods, students also get to start a food blog to get weekly points.

“It’s a really fun class and I’m looking to have more students enrolled in it next year,” Dill said.
