DHS Uniform Review: Football (Week 4)

Due to the limitations of high school uniform design and the limited resources available to high school teams, some of the following criticisms may be rendered moot.

All-white always looks good. You can never go wrong, no matter how many times it’s done in every sport. The Derby Panthers rocked it on Sept. 21 against Bishop Carroll.

The Helmet

The helmets are flawless. In the context of sport, white gives a sense of sleekness and intimidating class. These helmets achieve that.

What makes these helmets though is the minor details. The facemask is white which is absolutely essential. If it was black it would kill this uniform. Maybe green would work but white is the best for sure.

Another thing is the chinstraps!

THE GLORIOUS CHINSTRAPS.

THEY. ARE. WHITE.

Who’d a thunk?

It’s a small detail but it makes the helmets and the entire uniform. To sell the all-white look you need it to all be white. The chin straps being white solidifies the monochromatic status of the uniform. Without the white chinstraps, you’d lose the unity of color which provides that classy intimidation.

Jersey and Pants

These things looked elegant out on the field. The white bottoms and tops worked perfectly with the all-white helmets.

I’ve already gone in depth about the white jerseys and pants.

The green numbers work great as a secondary element and color.

Closing

The Stormpanthers (Panthertroopers?) came out donned in white and shot down the Eagles in their solid-colored unis.

All-white is always stellar, always clean, and the Panthers hit it home this week.
