Jaelen Johnston, a 2021 alum, wowed audiences on “The Voice,” finishing in second place on May 20.
“I was so proud of him and was hoping he would win the whole thing.But I think he will still do amazing things,” teacher Kathleen O’Brien said. “It is amazing to think the kid I had in class freshman year has the chance to be a major country music star.”
Johnston’s mom, Tonya, works in the DHS attendance office and has been a huge supporter throughout Jaelen’s music career.
His powerful performances resonated with viewers all around the world. Though he didn’t win, Johnston’s success has launched his music career while he still remains connected to his hometown.
