Homeroom at the end of the day — is it working?

A new block schedule that has switched homeroom to the end of the day has students and teachers concerned.

Having homeroom last is making it harder for people to stay focused because they are all ready to leave.

It has also increased the amount of students trying to gyp or just leave instead of homeroom; however, if you get caught trying to skip homeroom you get sent to A room.

Students absolutely hate it, and some teachers aren’t too excited about it, either.

“I like it being at the end of the day, but I think it can be a great tool to motivate the kids if we maybe reward the seniors by letting them get out of it next semester,” teacher Analia Carter said.

It might not be as weird for the freshman since they never experienced homeroom in the middle of the day, but for the rest of the students it is much different.

It served as almost a break in between all your classes, used for traveling and getting homework done.

Homeroom is still designed to be used for these purposes. It was just easier to make it helpful when it was after third block.
