Marching band finishes season

The Derby Panther Marching Band went to its final competition of the season at the Kansas Bandmasters Association (KBA) on Oct. 20.

The band took fourth in white division in prelims with a score of 75.38 to qualify for finals.

The finals performance was a 73.40 to finishing ninth out of 12 bands for its best finish of the season.

The final performance of REBEL was at the Oct. 26 Friday’s football game.

Going forward they will still continue to support the football team and play for the dance team at half time.

Today the band auditioned for wind ensemble, symphonic band or concert band. They are blind auditions, put in the order that directors believe auditioned best. Depending on where the students end up, they will be split into these three bands.

Throughout the winter, the varsity band will stick together in basketball band. Basketball band supports both varsity boys and girls teams by going to their home games and playing pep tunes.
