Khanu: So many favorite parts of fall

Leah Khanu

My favorite part of fall is that part of the year right after Halloween when no one’s really sure what holiday to celebrate. Some people celebrate Dia de los Muertos, some immediately move on to Christmas (if they hadn’t already), some people honor other religious holidays, and some people are really, really passionate about Thanksgiving.

My favorite part of fall is when you get to smash that failed attempt at a jack-o-lantern that looks eerily like your uncle. It’s a great way to let out all that pent-up anger and frustration from the Nov. 1 priority deadline.

My favorite part of fall is my birthday, Nov. 29.

My favorite part of fall is when you get to look forward to stuffing yourself on Thanksgiving, but you still have a shipload of Halloween candy left.

My favorite part of fall is the time when society says it’s OK to wear oversized sweaters and hoodies.

My favorite part of fall is getting blinded by the bright colors in the changing leaves and realizing I need to spend more time outside.

In the summertime, I miss the smell of the cold. To fix that I go outside and *DEEP INHALE*.  . . Then I realize how cold it is and make some hot chocolate and curl up under a blanket attempting to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas and finish AP Lit homework at the same time.
