Dubendorf: Stan Lee’s death a loss for comics fans

Chance Dubendorf

I had just watched fan-animated shorts of Gravity Falls and was thinking about how all things come to an end and they happen unexpectedly.

And then I turned on my phone and I got the alert that Stan Lee had died.

I started crying uncontrollably.

He wasn’t scared about anyone else. He wasn’t scared about anyone else’s opinion. He’d keep on going until he had no time.

Stan Lee put actual locations in his comics. Instead of a made-up theater, it was the Warren Theater. Instead of a made-up country, it was Paris.

Stan Lee is awesome. He did stuff that no other person would do. And he made history. He’s the first person to have a person of color be a superhero.

I miss Stan Lee. I know I’ll get to see one more cameo of him.

But I will miss his voice. I’m going to miss his ideas.
