Khanu: Yay, snow! Eh, cold

Leah Khanu

It feels like a few weeks ago it was 80 degrees at night, and we were all wishing it would get a little cooler.

Over the long weekend, I woke up blinded by the light reflecting off the winter wonderland outside my room. It seemed like a dream come true.

Then, I spent 10 minutes trying to get a car started and de-iced this morning. I don’t know what I was thinking.

For the last few years, Derby hasn’t had much snow for the holiday season. It would maybe snow a bit in October (not enough to stick, of course), and then we would have to wait until the end of January or the beginning of February to have any snowball fights.

This year the snow stuck around earlier. Maybe we will get the white Christmas we’ve been wanting all this time.

That is, if the mythical Kansas winter doesn’t turn us into panthersicles first.
