Health Science is a required class to be able to graduate at Derby High school.

There are many different classes to take, such as lifetime fitness, weight training and physical education.

Compared to health science, physical education can seem like a “play” class — or the opposite. It depends on the student and what their priorities are.

“PE is more athletic than health science. In health science we do passages, then warmups for about 15 minutes.” Yasmin Vaca said.

Having a required class doesn’t seem to bother students though.

“I think health science should be required because a lot of students go into that class thinking they don’t need it, but it’s very educational on health,” Anissa Dennis said.

Dennis also mentioned how having friends in the class can make it more fun.
