Building a resume now key for finding a job

Part of growing up is getting a job and being able to cash your own paychecks so you can stop asking for money from your parents. Lucky for us, living in the Derby community helps quite a bit because there are usually at least one or two places hiring.

Just because you can find a job that is hiring doesn’t mean it will be just as easy to actually get the job. Securing a job takes some work, you have to fill out applications and sometimes turn in a resume.

Even if you haven’t had job experience, you should still start a resume because you can include activities such as volunteering or even if you have just babysat or mowed lawns for profit before.

A good age to start looking for a job can vary because some people just don’t have the time, while some on the other hand want a job as soon as they are old enough.

However, most jobs that are in fast food or retail require you to be 16 or older.

“I got my first job when I was a sophomore at Subway and getting the job was pretty simple,” senior Andrew Coopman said.

There are jobs that can work with every personalities, too. If you are someone that isn’t a big fan of working in food or doesn’t think retail would be fun either you can always look for reffing or coaching jobs, but it does help if you play the sport as well.
