Kleinschmidt: Apex Legends video game review

Emma Kleinschmidt

When someone says Fortnite, most people would think about high schoolers being addicted to the video game or all the memes that came with it. Fortnite is an online video game that was developed and released in 2017 by Epic Games. Over the last two years, it has racked up loads of popularity among teens and at this point is probably despised by parents.

Most people knew of Fortnite due to the outrageous and frankly hilarious dance moves that came with the game. Some of the dance moves were even done by various celebrities on national television and that probably helped the popularity.

However, it has been two years and that wave of Fortnite battles is over. But wait, is there a new trend in teen gaming?

There sure is.

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and was released in 2019.

“I like Apex Legends better than Fortnite because you have a better chance when battling people, more armed skill than building,” senior Devin Starr said.

The game has gotten a lot of attention for being so similar to Fortnite but has seemed to fill the video game void that bored gamers were left with after playing Fortnite for two years.

Apex Legends is definitely something to look out for if you play video games, although, if you really consider yourself a gamer you have probably already heard of it.

Whether it becomes as well-known and addicting as Fortnite, we will have to wait and see.
