Football eager for test against Bishop Carroll

Callie Knudson

Derby’s first true test is this week.

Bishop Carroll, which has won two straight after falling to Northwest in the season opener, will be the best competition for the 3-0 Panthers so far.

Derby’s previous three opponents have a combined 2-7 record, and the Panthers have outscored those teams 160-26.

Adding a bit of extra intrigue to the game is seniors Dan Archer, Kevin Washington, Jarod Noel and Jacob Karsak were nominated for homecoming king.

“It’s Bishop Carroll week so it’s going to be fun, but I’m more worried about winning the game than winning homecoming king,” Karsak said.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and the homecoming ceremony is during halftime.
