Chadwick: Q&A with senior center Kevin Washington

Blake Chadwick

The talk of the town today, like always, is GAME DAY in Derby.

Derby vs. Campus is a one-sided, big brother-little brother sort of rivalry. But it’s a rivalry for sure.

So I decided to switch it up a little bit and get a little Q&A with senior center Kevin Washington.

Blake Chadwick: How has the transition been at quarterback with Lem Wash after Grant Adler got hurt?

Kevin Washington: “There was really not a huge difference. They are both good quarterbacks who know what they are doing, and yes, it is a big transition, but we will be all right.”

Blake Chadwick: What are the differences between them?

Kevin Washington: “Grant is more of a (scramble-first) quarterback who makes good plays. Lem can make good plays, too, but he sits in the pocket.”

Blake Chadwick: How did you get hurt?

Kevin Washington: “I got hurt in week 2. It was my ankle and it was a high sprain. It was a freak accident, nothing big, I’m back now.”

Blake Chadwick: How many games did you miss?

Kevin Washington: “I missed two games. It really wasn’t good competition, so it was smart from me and the coaches to sit out and let me heal and rest.”

Blake Chadwick: Are you and running back Tre Washington really related ?

Kevin Washington: “No, we aren’t really related. I have known Tre since kindergarten. We became best friends when we heard both of our names called and saw we had the same last name.”

Blake Chadwick: What are your plans for the future — any football in the future?

Kevin Washington: “I want to go to college, have a nice family and give back to those who have supported me in the past. I do want to play college football for probably one or two years just to get the experience.”
