Battle of the Bands — a competition hosted by Catch It Kansas — is on to its final round of voting.

The competition, which started in September, consists of weekly voting between two bands and their performances.

“All (the) winners of those rounds go to the playoffs and then the winner for that season is picked,” sophomore clarinetist Samantha Lees said.

There is no limit to the number of times one person can vote, and anyone is allowed to vote.

“I think it’s a good way for people to get involved even if its just by voting,” freshman clarinetist Lexi Mullen said.

Freshman trumpet Emily Reed added: “It’s a really fun way of seeing which bands people liked more. I think we did good this year.”

In 2018, Derby took first place in the first year of the competition.

“It would be awesome to be defending champs of the battle of the band (but I wish) luck to the other bands because I know that they work just as hard as we do and probably want to win just as much as we do,” Lees said.

The winner of the competition will be announced live on Catch It Kansas after voting ends Friday.
