Additional parking spots not enough

Renovation is coming, and there is no stopping it.

For three months students have parked in the same stalls, but are now starting to find themselves lacking a place to park.

Regardless if they wake up 30 minutes earlier or 10 minutes later.

With DHS transitioning into the next steps of the bond issue, students gave up nearly 200 parking stalls.

In order to compensate for the removal of the spots, DHS provided an extension to the original parking in front of the building (49 stalls) and added another 80 stalls in a lot past the tennis courts.

“The walk is annoying, but it’s nice to have a parking spot,” senior Landon Wise said.

Senior Zoe Williams added: “I feel the school should have chosen a better time, or the construction company should have taken into account the school calendar with their renovations, such as the parking lot.”

Students attending classes at Butler wonder if they will have a spot when they return in the afternoon.

“Nowhere does it state the school must provide you with parking,” teacher Pat Paske said.
