Derby gets first playoff test against Manhattan on Friday

Manhattan and Derby are two all-around and dangerous teams who face off Friday at 7 p.m. at  Panther Stadium.

Manhattan is entering the game at 9-1, with their only loss coming to Ky Thomas and Topeka 32-27 on Sept. 13. Ever since that it’s been all smooth sailing for the Indians.

Derby, on the other hand, is still undefeated and cruising along.

“Key factors for us are to get the ball to our playmakers,” junior safety Cason Lindsey said. “And for our defensive players to stay assignment sound and be what we need to be. And we have the players to do the work, so we should be all right.”

The Indians come into the game riding an eight-game winning streak thanks to their defense and the offensive backfield.

The Panthers will have their first true playoff test. They have outscored teams 519-84, including 118-20 in the playoffs.
