McDonald’s All-America nomination another high point for senior Sydney Nilles

Since her freshman year, senior Sydney Nilles has thrived in three different sports —  volleyball, basketball and soccer.

“My favorite memories from high school sports would have to be, for basketball, winning that state title and becoming close to my teammates,” Nilles said.

She has plenty of favorite memories from her career.

“For volleyball, I would say winning sub-state and going to state,” Nilles said. “We haven’t won sub-state since (2002), so that was a huge accomplishment for the team. Plus I love those girls as well.

“ For soccer, I would say winning some big games and all of the funny memories in the past … Overall high school sports have been such a huge honor.”

Nilles has received many awards throughout her career, including 10 all-league selections, two all-state selections, as well as a McDonald’s All-American nomination, which was announced this week.

“Words can not describe how blessed I am for being nominated,” Nilles said of the McDonald’s All-American nomination. … I’m not going to lie, I was very shocked and speechless. All thanks goes to my teammates and coaches.”

Nilles plans to continue her education and basketball career at Newman University in the fall.
