Basketball faces tough road this week

Coming off of a 70-15 win over the Newton Railers on Feb. 14, the Derby girls basketball team travels to Salina tonight to play the Salina Central Mustangs, who are ranked fourth in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. Derby is ranked seventh in Class 6A.

The Panthers host the Campus Colts on Friday, while on Saturday they travel to Grandview, Missouri, to play in the 810 shootout against the Grandview Christian Golden Eagles.

The Derby boys have an even tougher road this week.

After the game at Salina Central tonight, the eighth-ranked Derby boys (11-3) take on the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams in Class 6A — playing host to unbeaten Campus on Friday and playing at Blue Valley Northwest on Saturday.

Friday’s game with Campus will be the Panthers’ first home game since mid-January.
