Derby football finally gets its home opener.

The Panthers play host to Maize South tonight. They were expected to play home games on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, but team activities were suspended for two weeks due to Covid-19.

“We want to bounce back tonight and what better time to do it (then) at our home opener and on senior night,” senior Tanner Knox said.

Derby will face off against a talented Maize South team, which is 4-2. Both teams gave up leads in losses to Maize, which is 7-0.

The defense is looking to prove a point after giving up 36 points to Maize on Oct. 16.

“We want to come out and make a statement tonight and make sure no one is doubting us on defense,” Knox said.

To top it off, it is also senior night and homecoming king and queen will be announced.
