Football game similar to one big present — everything wrapped up in one night

Friday’s football game had everything wrapped up inside it — the first home game, Homecoming, senior night, the Jordan uniforms unveiling and the regular-season finale.

But it was all worth it as the Panthers obliterated the Maize South Mavericks 48-10 and quickly got back to their winning ways in time for the 6A playoffs.

“It felt good that we could finally debut our new jerseys,” junior Jameer Clemons said.

The Panthers are one of 200 high school teams in the nation — and the only Kansas team — that is wearing the new gray Jordan jerseys with a textured sleeve and strip down the pants.

What was most sweet was finally showcasing their abilities in front of a home crowd.

“We knew who we were and it felt good to show everybody else that,” senior Lem Wash said.

And that the Panthers did, scoring on the first drive’s first play for the first time this season.
