Soccer advances to regional championship

Caden Miller

The boys soccer team faced off against Southeast on Wednesday and came out on top 1-0 in a hard-fought game in horrible weather conditions.

The weather was in the mid 30’s with rain and sleet coming down the whole game.

Derby came away with eight first half corners but couldn’t connect on one. Caleb Day had a free kick, but Southeast’s goalkeeper made a great save on and Derby couldn’t finish off the rebound.

The second half was even tougher for the Panthers, as they were already going through the first half in the horrible weather and now going through it with another 40 minute half.

Derby finally got a break through with a an indirect free kick that Caden Miller scored off Scott Simmons assist

Derby will play at Campus at 5 p.m. on Friday in the regional championship.
